AGRICULTURE DEVELOPMENT – Re-Planting of Cocoa and rehabilitation of old cocoa plantation.
| The Cocoa Replanting program is an alternate solution needed to revive Samoa’s declining economy especially in the agriculture export market. FFI believes this project will provide commercial income to vulnerable growers, with the target aim that by the end of the project term in March 2018 – FFI should have 200 acres of newly planted cocoa farms in Samoa.
Through the support of DFAT through CSSP – FFI utilizes a more administrative approach to the running of the project – Cocoa growers are selected from a pool of applicants’, successful grantees are entitled to a set amount of funding support allocated to the replanting of cocoa on freehold lands.
FFI hosts a workshop for all interested FFI Farmers in the cocoa re-planting program. Growers will submit an application stating the acreage of freehold land owned by the member determine land suitability and availability for cocoa planting.
